Weed Hangover? Yes there is such a thing.

Can Vitamins help with your Cannabis Hangover?

You wake up with a start, look at the clock, and for a fleeting moment, think you have over-slept for work. Then you remember it is Sunday. You wipe your eyes, and unstick your tongue from the roof of your mouth. You grab a big drink of water, and can taste a hint of the last drink that you had the night before – creating a wave of nausea. You reach for your phone, not because you want to look at the pictures that were taken, or what was uploaded to social media. No, you simply want to make sure that your phone made it home with you. Phew it did. Your head is pounding and There is only one thing that you crave at this moment, a deliciously greasy breakfast or even better, a fast food burger and fries. After that you just want to lie on the couch and binge watch your favourite series on streaming TV. Simply put, you are hungover!

Weed hangovers are a real thing, and may soon get worse

Alcohol hangovers are well documented, but did you know that you can also get hungover from overindulging on cannabis? Although the symptoms are different, weed hangovers can cause a number of lingering side effects that include lack of energy, loss of focus, “brain fog”, and short term memory issues. As edibles are scheduled to hit the market in as early as mid-December, weed hangovers may become more common. Ironically, the same thing that is instrumental in giving us that “high” feeling, is the culprit for creating the weed hangover – THC. Unlike CBD which has been shown to help the body put its endocannabinoid system back into balance, THC can attach itself to our receptors and linger there for a few days. This little stow-away can be the cause of this sluggish, foggy feeling. This then begs the question, how does one combat a weed hangover? We know that with alcohol hangovers rehydration, food and exercise can all speed up the recovery process. With a weed hangover however, Dimitri Boudovitch CEO of Folium Labs believes he has the answer :

B-Vitamins, Vitamin C and E, zinc and N-Acetyl Cysteine. Amino-acids such as L-carnitine and herbs such as ginkgo biloba, ginseng, milk thistle to name just a few of Boudovitch’s suggestions. As great as this sounds in theory, this would not only be an expensive undertaking, it would also be time consuming. Let’s face it, how many of us would curate a regime of vitamins and herbs that is as extensive a list as above, let alone the myriad of other ingredients that weren’t included in the above list. On top of it all, this would leave no room for edibles!

Different Types of vitamins and minerals found in Livli Proactive Care

What is the solution?

Fortunately, Boudovitch’s labs have formulated a product that encompasses all of the ingredients in one product. He explains, “ Livli Proactive Care is a daily multivitamin that has been formulated with cannabis users in mind. It is different from other products on the market because it contains all regular vitamins people normally take (eg. Vitamin B). It also contains a number of herbs described above – specifically intended for cannabis consumers.” Although the initial formulation was designed with cannabis users in mind, Boudovitch wants to emphasize that the daily vitamin would also be beneficial for non-cannabis users. He Continues, “It aims to optimize the cannabis experience by enabling users to stay focused and energized, and to perform at their peak. Taken daily, the product accumulates beneficial effects to mitigate cannabis after-effects that some consumers may experience. Livli is non-GMO and contains only natural ingredients, organic herbs, and all the claims are approved by Health Canada.” The claims that Boudovitch refers to are as follows:

  • Helps to maintain cognitive function
  • Supports and maintains immune system.
  • Helps in energy production and metabolism
  • Source of antioxidants
  • Helps to support liver function
  • Helps to maintain bone health, and heart muscle

What Form Does It Come in?

When asked what form the product comes in, i.e. pill, capsule powder etc. Boudovitch explains, “ Livli comes in powder vegetarian capsules, 60 capsules per pouch, which is a month supply. If you don’t like capsules, you can easily dilute it in water or juice and drink it. If you noticed, our product comes in a pouch. We intentionally didn’t want to look like pills in a bottle, which immediately conjures images of illness and being hidden away in cabinets in washrooms. We wanted bright packaging that people would be happy to have out, lying around their cannabis paraphernalia, that they would be proud to talk about and integrate as part of an active lifestyle.”

What are the side effects?

Although approved by Health Canada, Boudovitch discusses the potential side effects, and what kind of research went into the product. “We assembled a team of scientists, including PhDs in Biochemistry and Naturopathic Doctors, and looked thoroughly at how cannabis is processed in the body. We looked at which organs and bodily functions are involved, and what effects take place at each touch point where cannabis is passing within the body. That gave us a solid understanding of what the product needed to address. Our science team identified the ingredients that would provide the sought after benefits.” He continues “ Livli Multivitamin consists of well-known natural ingredients and has no major side effects. However, consumers should consult a health care practitioner if pregnant, breast-feeding, taking any medication or other supplements, have digestive issues, or diagnosed with a medical condition.”

This month Folium Labs are enhancing their multivitamin “Wake and Take”

What Next?

Folium Labs is not just stopping there with innovation and product enhancement. This month they are launching an upgraded Multi Formula “Wake & Take” for CBD and cannabis users, but also suitable for busy and active people. Munchassist, and Dry Mouth are two additional products that will be launched at the end of this year.   Munchassist is developed to help fend off those insatiable food desires usually resulting in a guilt addled binge of something sweet of savoury (or both!!!).  Livli Dry Mouth is a natural remedy in the form of lozenges that is designed to get rid of the dreaded “pasties”.

Livli Proactive Care is produced and packaged right here in Canada: in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility is FDA approved, licensed by Health Canada, and holds cGMP certification. It is great to see that Canada is not only leading the world in the cannabis research, but also thinking beyond legalization on how to enhance the cannabis experience.
